ST. LIGHT
Wellington based hip hop extraordinaire St. Light is one to watch, but you won’t see his face.
With his hidden persona, St. Light embraces UK rap culture with depth and emotion to explore his artistry among multiple styles, and he does it WELL. His new single ‘Mach 1’ samples dialogue from the 2015 Tom Hardy film ‘Legend’ - a tale of infamous gangsters rising through the ranks of the criminal underworld.
Could this underworld be reflective of the music scene we are within, and the risks and losses taken to get to a desired level of success? What do we lose and what do we gain in the rise to the top? Who are we underneath it all?
The St. Light secrecy only adds to this narrative, with the singles closing lines repeating “ I AM NO ONE ”. St. Light is everywhere and nowhere all at once, like a ghost you can’t quite grasp, but are dying to meet. Keep your eyes peeled for what comes next, because we are f*cking excited.

Very rarely, we in this industry may be lucky enough to come across those creatives who brings out the very best in all of us. And I’m not just talking about in our work and what we produce, but also in the way we carry ourselves day in, day out. The way we persevere when it all gets too much, and the way we can all become the best versions of ourselves through what we make together. The kind of person who works selflessly, and with unwavering love, passion and enthusiasm in all they do. Mr Dan Goodwin is one of them.
2X was lucky enough to spend time in Massey University’s Great Hall on set for Dan’s final major project; Wet Denim - Live @ The Great Hall (Surround Sound). 36 microphones, 45 inputs, COUNTLESS hours of work (like seriously Dan may as well sleep at uni), and the result was absolutely, stunningly beautiful.
The energy in this crew, formed by Dan and made up of his friends, colleagues and fellow students, was unmatched. Pure support, creative flow, collaboration and positivity. New friendships were made and old ones made stronger, with all of us HAPPILY giving up our time for our wonderful Dan. Here’s just a small token of our congratulations and gratitude for you Mr Goodwin, we love you so much and adore all you do for us. Legend in the making.
